Ted Chudleigh, Halton MPP 11 · Friday, July 20, 2012 OAKVILLE BEAVER · www.insideHALTON.com Founded in 1997, Cameron's Brewing Co. was initially located in Mississauga, but moved to Oakville 11 years ago. The business employs 50 full-time and part-time employees and is known for its four core products -- an ale, lager, cream ale and a dark lager. "Business is fantastic," said Coleman. "The hot weather is really helping. Craft breweries, overall, are growing at a great rate in Ontario, across Canada, and basically around the world. Hence my investment." The brewery is housed within a 30,000-square-foot facility containing numerous massive brewing tanks at 1165 Invicta Dr. Coleman said the company currently only uses about 10,000 square feet of that facility and is looking to expand. "My partner and I are all about investing in the brewery, investing in jobs and growing," said Coleman. "When you see what's happening with us little guys versus the big guys, Molson and Labatt, they are foreign-owned now and they are cutting back on jobs," Coleman said. Cameron's Brewing Co. Brewmaster Jason Britton said the brewery's packaging line is capable of bottling 100 bottles of beer per minute and 20-30 kegs per hour when the big orders come in. The beer is distributed through the Beer Store, the LCBO, direct delivery and the store at the brewery itself. Chudleigh was impressed by the company's use of unique ingredients, brewing techniques and its subtle ways of keeping customers interested, like having different designs on the underside of their bottle caps. YMCA Summer Membership of Oakville," said Chudleigh. "We have to compete with the (U.S.) for our market share in micro-brewing, in the automotive business, the automotive parts business. We still have to compete in these areas and we have to do it in a much more creative way than we've done in the past." Some of the ideas brought forward by the PCs to level the playing field included reining in spending with a mandatory public sector wage freeze and allowing businesses and private sector unions to compete for government contracts. Another suggestion involved reducing the cost of doing business by lowering taxes and treating affordable energy as a cornerstone of economic growth. Cutting back on the regulations and red tape that block job creators and creating 200,000 jobs in the skilled trades by allowing employers to take on more apprentices were other parts of the plan. "That's what we want to do as a political party. We want to give small and large private businesses a chance to exhibit that creativity they are so good at," said Chudleigh. "You (Cameron's Brewing Co.) are an example of how that can be done." The New Michael G. DeGroote opeNiNG Senior School September 2012!
