She assumes the new role effective tomorrow (Friday). Meissner started working for the Oakville Public Library in 1986. She has held a variety of positions, most recently that of Director of Corporate Services, since 2002. Members of the Oakville Public Library Board credited Meissner's extensive background in management, financial planning, facility development and risk management with being instrumental in creating the successful organization residents enjoy today. "With over 26 years of experience at the Oakville Public Library, Charlotte is extremely passionate and knowledgeable about the role libraries play in building vibrant communities," said Lisa Csele, chair of the Oakville Public Library Board. "The depth of her experience and her strong relationships with key stakeholders will give the library a solid base from which to begin the exciting work driven by our new strategic plan." Meissner said it is a dynamic time for libraries and noted she is looking forward to the new position. "I am excited to be working with the Oakville Public Library Board, the excellent staff, the Town of Oakville and the community to lead the library toward its future vision," she said. "One which embraces transformation while respecting the past." Charlotte Meissner Meissner holds an honours bachelor of arts degree in economics and commerce from the University of Toronto's Trinity College. The Oakville Public Library provides residents of the Town of Oakville with content, programs and public spaces for the purposes of information, recreation and the promotion of literacy.
