The new magnet for a replacement MRI at OTMH arrived in early July. Onlookers watched as a crane carried out what seemed like two effortless lifts, one to remove the nine year old, four ton magnet, and the second, to replace it with a new technologically more advanced model, the new Siemens Aera. The new MRI will be operational at the current hospital by early August and will be transferred to the New Oakville Hospital when it opens in late 2015. Introducing HHS' New Board Member Halton Healthcare Services (HHS) is pleased to announce that Laurent Thibault has been elected as a member of the HHS Board of Directors. Laurent is currently Chair of the Georgetown Hospital Foundation and was recently named the Lions Club "Georgetown Citizen of the Year" for 2011. Laurent is also involved with many cultural and community associations locally and sits on several Town of Halton Hills committees. Laurent was Chief Economist and then President of the Canadian Manufacturers' Association where he was a strong advocate for developing a skilled labour force. In 1991 he became the Co-chair of the Canadian Labour Force Development Board providing national leadership on training issues. In 1995, Laurent moved to a new career as a Financial Advisor with one Canada's leading firms providing financial and management services. He retired from this position in 2006. Laurent's board governance experience is extensive at the local, provincial, national and global levels. The months of August and September are peak months for West Nile Virus (WNV) and people of all ages are at risk. Here are some tips to follow to avoid getting bit! Protect yourself.
