Art returns to the park on Simcoe Day Monday Improv comedy at The Oakville Art Society is once again bringing things back to nature with its 47th annual Art in the Park festival. The fine arts festival, taking place on the Civic Holiday of Monday, Aug. 6, will feature many new additions, as well as the return of the ever-popular Beer Gardens, catered this year by Heat Catering, and musical entertainment by Tropical Daze. "The continued success of this outdoor art show is possible thanks to the tremendous support of our community, the outstanding, hardworking volunteers and the very talented artists," stated a press release. The show will feature more than 160 artists and artisans, selected by a jurying process, from across the country, attracting thousands of visitors to Bronte. Traditional, funky, or cutting-edge, every medium is represented, such as oil, acrylic and watercolour paintings, mixed media glass, ceramics, photography, wood-turning, sculptures and fine jewelry. Art in the Park will be held at the Waterfront Heritage Park, 8 Navy St. Admission costs $3 at the gate. The Oakville Art Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting art and art appreciation in the community. Proceeds from Art in the Park benefit local art students and art society. Moonshine Cafe Oakville Improv is putting on a pair of evening comedy shows at the Moonshine Café on Sunday. The Moonshine Comedy Jam begins with the first show at 7 p.m. featuring the company's Oakville groups. The second show starts at 8:30 p.m. and features the group's veterans. Tickets cost $5 per show.
