Kerr Street Ministries in search of new leader By Dominik Kurek OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF Exactly a week shy of his first anniversary with Kerr Street Ministries (KSM), David Di Sabatino is out as the non-profit Christian organization's executive director. Di Sabatino's employment with KSM ended on July 11. An announcement by KSM stated the decision was mutual between Di Sabatino and KSM's board of directors. Board chair John McClelland would not elaborate on the decision. Already several weeks without Di Sabatino, McClelland said no problems have arisen as a result of the loss of an executive director. "We're quite fortunate that we have a very solid staff in place," he said. "So the leadership requirement on a day-to-day basis to run the operation is fairly minimal. The staff, to this point, are demonstrating the capability to run the operations in a very seamless way." The void created by the departure of Di Sabatino, said McClelland, will be felt mostly in the areas of fundraising and implementation of KSM's strategic plan as outlined by the board. So, in the meantime, McClelland and a number of other board members will step in more at the operations level to support KSM until the role is filled. "We are available to staff to support any day-to-day operational requirements necessary," McClelland said. He noted that staff are fully capable of delivering daily programs and services without disruptions to KSM's clients. When Di Sabatino took over the role of executive director, the outgoing director, Benjamin Ward, remained on staff for a 10-day transitional period. This time around, the new hire will not have the same luxury, but McClelland doesn't anticipate any hiccups.
