Halton police charge man in connection with Oakville break-in A 42-year-old Mississauga man recently in court to face charges related to a Toronto break-in now faces a charge in connection with an Oakville break-in. The local charge stems from a break-in, alleged to have occurred in mid-July on Pinewood Avenue. Halton police said the Oakville breakand-enter happened during the morning hours when a woman left her home to walk her dog. She left the front door unlocked, as her husband had stayed behind. Police reported that shortly after the woman had left, her husband heard the door open. When he went to the door to see who was there, he saw a man leave the house, walk down the driveway and drive away in a green minivan. Nothing was stolen in the incident, said police. The following morning, investigators said, the husband saw what he believed to be the same vehicle driving by his house. This time, the Oakville resident recorded the licence plate number and gave it to police, who then investigated. Police were then able to identify a suspect associated with the van, but were unable to locate the man until Aug. 2, when he was arrested for break and enter and possession of the proceeds of crime in Toronto. "He was released on bail from Toronto and subsequently taken into custody at the court house by Halton police who transported him back to Oakville where he will be held for a bail hearing," said Det. Eric Schwab. Grzegorz Pelka, 42, of Mississauga has been charged with break and enter. Halton police is continuing to investigate this incident and anyone with information related to it is asked to contact the Oakville Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4747, ext. 2215 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
