Nonna's Party will be staged at the Milton Centre for the Arts Sept. 13-15. The comedy show features Burton playing a series of characters, among them herself, her mother, and her grandparents (Nonna and Nonno). The show features a live stage performance that includes song and dance to go along with film clips of the real life characters. Tickets cost $40 per person. Guild hopes to fill the opera bus Do you want to see the opera but don't want to drive all the way to Toronto or Hamilton to see it? The Oakville Opera Guild can help. The local group takes three busloads a year to the Dofasco Centre for the Arts for a performance by Opera Hamilton. The upcoming season's opera excursions are on Oct. 27 (Rigoletto by Giuseppe Verdi), Jan. 19 (Popera), and March 16 (The Pearl Fishers by Georges Bizet). All three are matinee showings. Oakville author Carolyn Martin, who goes by the name C.K. Kelly Martin, has selfpublished the novel Come See About Me. The book is about a 20-year-old whose boyfriend dies in a car crash, sending her into a depressed state until she is saved by the boyfriend's aunt. Abbozzo Gallery is ready for another series of exhibits and it opens its new season with artist Olexander Wlasenko. The exhibit, titled Cinemarks, opens today (Friday) with an opening reception that will feature the artist. This is Wlasenko's first solo exhibit at Abbozzo Gallery. The show features his charcoal and pigment drawings inspired by European films from the 1950s and 1960s. By choosing to isolate a pivotal moment in a film, Wlasenko presents the viewer with a narrative that is meant to engage the observer in countless observations.
