www.insideHALTON.com · OAKVILLE BEAVER Thursday, September 13, 2012 · 28 Advertorial Auditions still on for Children's Choir MAZE It's an exciting time for the Oakville Children's Choir. "We are such a strong community arts organization here in Oakville with an outstanding international reputation and we are on the edge of its 20th season next year no small feat for a not-for-profit arts ensemble," says Sarah Morrison, the Artistic Director of the Oakville Children's Choir. The Oakville Children's Choir has just returned from the 7th World Choir Games held in Cincinnati, Ohio this past July. Having placed Gold in two categories, the choir is in a celebratory mode as they enter this, their 19th season of providing outstanding world class music education and choral performance in Oakville. "We are very excited for this coming season," Morrison says outlining the season that features a gospel themed holiday concert in December with guest artist Toronto singing star Alana Bridgewater, appearances of the choir with the Oakville Symphony Orchestra, collaborations with other community groups including The ErinOak Kids organization and the OCC Halton poetry contest in which the winner Oakville Children's Music The Advertorial gets their poem set to music by Associate Music Director and composer Janet Stachow and performed by the OCC choirs at their May 2013 concert. The OCC organization is also delighted to introduce three new artistic staff members, Jennifer Johnson, who will be running the Cherub Choir program, Dave Anderson, who is running our new Boy Choir for boys with changed and unchanged voices, and Rebecca Leung, who will be joining the OCC as an accompanist. "We have such an outstanding artistic team, truly top Canadian musicians who are living here in Oakville, and this is one of our greatest strengths as an organization," affirms Morrison. Auditions for The Oakville Children's Choir continue into September with chorister positions still available in all six of the different choirs.
