Countdown to Oakville Santa Claus Parade is underway While residents are soaking up the last days of the summer sun, the count down to the 64th annual Oakville Santa Claus Parade has already begun. Once again, the time for Christmas shopping, baking and the gathering of family and friends will soon be here -- and with it, the thoughts of Oakvillians young and old gradually turn toward a visit from the big guy himself. With 64 days until the parade marches in, Santa Claus will soon be making his yearly ride down the streets of Oakville in his great red sleigh. The Oakville Santa Claus Parade Committee has been as busy as elves over the summer preparing for this year's parade, which takes place Saturday, Nov. 17, starting at 9 a.m. The theme of this year's parade is Once Upon A Christmas, to bring back fond memories or foster hope for Christmases to come. The parade is now accepting applications for float and walking group entries and encourages all those from the community to show their creativity by participating in this year's event.
