Drew's Blues is Nov. 24 The Drew Hildebrand Teen Benefit Fund (DHTBF) will hold a blues concert/southern barbecue buffet on Nov. 24, at Milton's Country Heritage Park to help turnaround teens achieve their dreams. Drew's Blues/Southern BBQ Benefit, which will begin within Gambrel Barn at 6:30 p.m., is being held in memory of 16-year-old Oakville teen Drew Hildebrand who was a victim of teen-onteen violence in March 2008. Money raised will support scholarships for graduating turnaround teens entering post-secondary education, and music and arts after school programs for teens with challenges and in financial need. "We wanted to create a community event that was fun and different and we really wanted to celebrate Drew's love of music," said Kim Evershed, Drew's stepmother and co-founder of the DHTBF. "We decided to go with the blues. There are a lot of blues lovers. It will include a live and silent auction and a cash bar. "The Gambrel Barn has a second floor balcony to it and we are actually hosting a blues lounge up there," said Evershed. "We wanted to create an atmosphere where people weren't stuck at their tables all night so that's why we have the lounge upstairs where people can mingle." The blues lounge will open at 6:30 p.m., with the southern barbecue buffet opening at 7:30 p.m. The buffet will be followed by the blues concert, which will last from 8:30 p.m. to midnight.
