She has destroyed a family. This was a special occasion." Claude said his 99-year-old father has been inconsolable since hearing the news. "The question he continues to ask in his frail state is, `What have I done wrong?'" he said. "One has to be in his presence to feel how he feels, having had to be told that his favourite granddaughter can no longer be with him." Although Colin has since been released from the hospital, Claude said his son has been scarred emotionally. "This is still very difficult for him," he said. "As twins, they are extremely close. He's not doing very well. There wasn't a lot he could say. He just told me he couldn't help her. He couldn't get her out of the vehicle." Carol's uncle, Louis Grimmond, described her as "family-oriented," and said the birthday celebration at his home in Vaughan was an event she would not miss. "At about 8 (p.m.) she said her goodbyes and that she would see us again," Louis said. "Everybody is more or less in denial of what happened. I don't think reality has hit home for most of us." He said Carol was not married and had no children. She was an employee for the Ministry of Correctional Services and worked at the Don Jail before being assigned a job in Windsor. "Somebody on the highway driving in the wrong direction?" Louis said. "That's totally insane. How could you even do something like that without being aware?" - With files from Dylan C. Robertson and Alexandra Bosanac OAKVILLE WOMAN CHARGED: A 55-year-old Oakville woman, allegedly driving a Mazda 3 the wrong way on Hwy. 407, was arrested at the scene and faces charges of impaired driving. She sustained no injuries. Man charged with stunt driving A 24-year-old Milton man has been charged with stunt driving after a vehicle was clocked at 131 kilometres-per-hour in a 60-km zone at Dundas Street and Fourth Line Saturday. Police said at 10:45 p.m., a Halton police officer, who had just wrapped up a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) spot check, was moving to a new location when he spotted a Volvo speeding east on Dundas Street. The officer activated his radar and found the vehicle to be travelling 71 km/h over the speed limit. The officer pulled the driver over in the area of Neyagawa Boulevard and Dundas Street. The driver was charged with stunt driving, which carries an immediate seven-day vehicle impoundment and seven-day licence suspension. Halton police are reminding drivers that high-risk behaviour behind the wheel often ends in catastrophic results.
