Sanctuary Day Spa is in the pink this month This month, Sanctuary Day Spa is getting tickled pink in support of Pink Ribbon Tea and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF). "We're excited to go pink for our first Pink Ribbon Tea event in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation of Ontario," Allan Skok, president of Sanctuary Day Spas, said in a press release. The launch of the event will take place at the Oakville spa on Oct. 18 and will include tea and pink cupcakes. "This is a great way for our staff to raise money for a meaningful cause while having some fun doing it. We're all going pink in October, including our website." The Pink Ribbon Tea event was born out of Canadian Joey Holt, who while in treatment for breast cancer, wanted to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October without having to run. As manager of the spa in The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, Holt had witnessed the annual CIBC Run for the Cure in support of CBCF. Holt succumbed to her cancer in November 2010 before the first Pink Ribbon Tea took place in her name. Throughout October, all Sanctuary Day Spa locations, including the 130 Trafalgar Rd. S. spa, will be a sea of pink and offer Pink Ribbon Tea manicures and pedicures in support of breast cancer awareness -- 10 per cent from every manicure/pedicure will go to the CBCF. Every person who books a manicure and pedicure during October will receive a bottle of OPI nail polish and a lip gloss. Pink Ribbon Tea tins will also be sold with all proceeds going to CBCF. According to the release, Sanctuary hopes to make the event an annual one and will encourage its regular guests to make a contribution towards CBCF. With one in nine Canadian women expected to develop breast cancer during her lifetime, breast cancer continues to be the most common cancer in Canadian women over the age of 20, representing more than one-quarter of all cancer cases in Canadian women, stated the release.
