He was looking forward to seeing the students again, hearing their jokes, feeling that sense of community from all those around him. But there was something else on his mind, too -- wages. For the past five years, the retired machinist and other crossing guards in Oakville haven't seen an increase in their pay and still remain significantly lower all about safety: Crossing guard Wayne Olympico helps students cross the street safely in Oakville.
