Thanks to each person who supported the Terry Fox Run this year. While pledges are still being processed, we should raise more than $110,000 this year for Terry Fox-funded research. Many people come together to make the run possible. The organizing committee meets all year and were at Coronation Park to set up as the run rose on Lake Ontario. Close to 100 volunteers help on run day to make sure all runs smoothly. Companies support the run without expecting any recognition: Longos, Lick's Bronte, Mobile Ad, Bruce County Nut and Fudge, Oakville Massage and Wellness, CMCC Chiropractic Clinic, Running Company, Retro Rock Lounge, St. John Ambulance, Tim Hortons, and TD Canada Trust. This year, Media Resources provided lovely signs that honoured and remembered our loved ones. The Town of Oakville and Regional Municipality of Halton, and their various departments, are wonderful partners in the Run. Year after year, Dan Ferrone, Jeannie Jelly Beans, Elizabeth Sheridan and the Kinsmen Club of Oakville ensure the day is a success. There were large teams, small teams, families and individuals -- each there because they believe in miracles. Special thanks to Team Darrell and our newest corporate teams (Ford of Canada, Oakville Hydro, Hopedale Mall and Karen Thompson Law) for your support. The event is always both emotional and inspiring. Many participants broke into tears as they crossed the finish line because the Terry Fox Run is about more than running. It is about believing in miracles and hope. It is about realizing a dream and paying tribute to a Canadian hero. Participants raised a few dollars or a few thousand dollars for Terry Fox cancer research. As Terry said, "if you give a dollar, you are part of the Marathon of Hope." Thanks to everyone for being part of Terry's dream again this year. See you Sept. 15, 2013. We do make a lot of other donations but were hoping to do something different. Marcela Inzirillo, Oakville
