The concert will be at Walton United Church on Wednesday, Oct. 24. The show will raise funds for the Scholarship Fund of the Rotary Burlington Music Festival. The concert will feature the voices of 40 young Oakville singers who will be participating in a music festival next month. The show starts at 7 p.m. The church is located at 2489 Lakeshore Rd. in Bronte. Tickets cost $10 for adults or $5 for children aged 12 and under. Halton Museum Foundation, which is the museum's independent fundraising arm, is kicking off its new World Music series on Saturday (Oct. 20) featuring Portuguese Fado musicians for the first show. "The museum continues to explore new ways to reach out to audiences in Halton and beyond," said Halton Regional Chair Gary Carr, in a news release. "This new World Music Series, staged in such a beautiful setting, will provide a memorable experience for music lovers." Fado is a Portuguese music genre that dates back to the early 1800s. The upcoming concert will consist of a fixed-menu buffet dinner, and entertainment by Fado musicians, including singers Ton Gouveia and Elisabete, Portuguese guitarist Hernani Raposo, classical guitarist Eduardo Camara and double-bassist Pedro Joel. The concert takes place inside the museum's Alexander Barn, located inside Kelso Conservation Area, 5181 Kelso Rd., Milton. It runs from 6-11 p.m. Tickets cost $65. The Spectacular Oakville Senior's Variety Show will be performed at the Centre around the Christmas holiday break. Auditions for the show are taking place on Tuesday, Oct. 23 and Thursday, Oct. 25. The talent show will be cabaret style featuring a variety of performances.
