Beloved husband for 59 years of Maureen (Hoggins), loving and proud father of Graham (Suzanne) of Milan, OH, and Kim (Michael) of Oakville. Proud Papa to and sadly missed by his five grandchildren: Jessica and Heather (Graham) and Alex, Ryan and Graham (Kim). Predeceased by his father, Norman Mortimer Johnson and his m o t h e r D o r i s D a v i e s . Dearly missed by his sister Olive (Ron) Mellis and Sisterin-law Audrey Reilly of Oakville. Respected Uncle of Ron, Terry and Kevin Mellis, Paul Reilly, Tracy Sternbach (Reilly) and Kim Hoggins. Born in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK on July 19th, 1932 Norman and the "love of his life" Maureen immigrated to Oakville in 1955 upon completion of his service with the RAF in Germany. In 1958 he started Johnson & Law, a painting and decorating business which he ran until this year. From 1969 to 1994 he owned The Color Centre Ltd located in downtown Oakville. Norman absolutely enjoyed his work and had the pleasure of decorating countless homes, businesses and historical properties during the 54 years he operated Johnson & Law. Throughout his life Norman dedicated his time to many Oakville organizations including The United Way, Oakville Chamber of Commerce and was elected and served for 17 years as a Commissioner of Oakville Hydro. He was also a longtime member of The Kiwanis Club (1957-1985) serving as its President in 1964. In 1972, Norman was awarded "Kiwanian of the Year" for the work he did in the creation of the annual Oakville inter high school swim meet and the support provided to the Oakville Aquatic Club during its formative years. As a committee member, he also helped in the development of the Kiwanis "Meals on Wheels" program that was started 1976. A service and celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at St. Jude's Anglican Church, 160 William Street, Oakville. All are invited to tea immediately following the service. The family sincerely thanks the Red Cross staff as well as the CCAC for the outstanding care and comfort provided to him. In particular RN's Jadwiga and Lileya; Dorothy and Crystal of the Red Cross; Louise and Jeanette of Home Instead; and Drs. Streival and Gupta and the staff of Credit Valley Cancer Centre. Cremation has taken place.
