Crime Stoppers Shred-it Nov. 3 Crime Stoppers will host another Community Shred-it event at Dorval Crossing East on Saturday (Nov. 3). Crime Stoppers has partnered for the third time with Shred-it to raise funds and promote safe disposal of personal documents. In March 2011 and again in May of this year, the event received great interest with hundreds of residents attending and showing support for Crime Stoppers. On Saturday, Crime Stoppers and Shred-it will bring their expertise to Dorval Crossing East to help people take action against identity theft and fraud from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Shred-it mobile shredding trucks will be on site and consumers are invited to bring all the documents they can carry for shredding. Representatives from Crime Stoppers and Shred-it will offer tips and advice on how to protect against identity theft. Crime Stoppers is asking for $5 per bag, $10 per banker's box and $15 per large box. The first 100 patrons to bring material for shredding will receive a 500-sheet bundle of recycled copy paper provided by Unisource Canada, as well as a case of Coca-Cola. All proceeds go to support the local Crime Stoppers of Halton program.
