The Performing Assets to launch Hope 4 Holidays By John Bkila OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF Nearly six years ago, three bank executives put together a band for a one-time performance at an annual RBC charity Christmas variety show. After receiving rave reviews and encouragement from co-workers, The Performing Assets has since played for several charitable events in Canada and the U.S. "We only do it for community work or charity. We don't do anything we get paid for, it's all volunteer and any money we can raise, we donate to whatever cause the event is for," said Jim Westlake, frontman and rhythm guitarist for The Performing Assets. "Because we represent RBC, we really feel there's a natural corporate connection there with the community... it's a nice way, with all the charity work that RBC does, to hook in there and help out." The band will perform at the launch of Home Suite Hope's Hope 4 Holidays fundraising campaign on Friday, Nov. 2 at Arnold's Sports Bar at 485 Morden Rd. "(Rockin' Hope for the Holidays) is a non-gala gala, an opportunity for an older crowd to come out, wear their jeans, let their hair down, and dance and listen to some incredible music," said Jules Graham-Hood, HSH development director.
