They were at a celebration for the 100th anniversary of the Grey Cup held at Oakville Toyota Scion where they enjoyed snacks and met Toronto Argonauts former coach and Oakville resident Michael `Pinball' Clemons, before making a short walk to a field where the Grey Cup was displayed. "Pinball was assigned the Grey Cup to promote within the Oakville community for three hours and we are just delighted that (he) was able to make arrangements that the cup could come to Oakville Toyota," said Frank Apa, Oakville Toyota Scion president. When asked who he thought would win the Canadian Football League (CFL) trophy this year, Apa said it could only be the Argos. "I've been an Argo fan for over 40 years and a season ticket holder for 36 years," said Apa. "I bleed double blue." The Argos will face the Montreal Alouettes on Sunday (Nov. 18) in the eastern final. The victor will play either the Calgary Stampeders or the B.C. Lions at the Grey Cup championship at Toronto's Rogers Centre Nov. 25. "I am very happy to announce that we have a Canadian treasure here today and that treasure is the Grey Cup," said Clemons, giving students a quick lesson on the Grey Cup. "The Grey Cup is 100 years old. Actually, it's See Grey page 11 Catholic High School Hawks football team members pose proudly with the Grey Cup. For more photos, see page 3. Halton police will be visiting local businesses over the next two weeks in a bid to halt POS (pointof-sale) terminal fraud. Dubbed Project Hologram, the campaign will see police encouraging merchants to place holographic stickers on their POS terminals. Police say this will enable retailers to monitor the terminals daily for any sign the device has been tampered with. There is no shortage of reasons to implement such measures as between January 2012 and now, there were 150 incidents of POS machines being compromised in Halton. About 200 terminals were compromised in Halton the year before. In this scam, multiple fraudsters enter a store and as one distracts employees, the other removes a debit/credit card machine and replaces it with an identical-looking machine, equipped to scan and store debit and credit card information. After a few days, they return and switch the device back, retrieving their own, which contains information that can be used to defraud the customers who visited that store. With hologram stickers, police are hopeful retailers will become aware when this kind of fraud is underway by spotting a damaged or missing sticker -- indicating the machine has been tampered with. Following the roll-out, merchants who did not receive a hologram sticker can contact the Halton Regional Police Fraud Unit to have one applied to the merchant's POS terminals. Further information and tips to prevent becoming a victim of fraud can be found at www. haltonpolice.ca under the `Specialized Units - Fraud' tab. MANUFACTURER REBATES ON NOW! Don't get Hooked!
