www.insideHALTON.com · OAKVILLE BEAVER Wednesday, December 12, 2012 · 20 Oakville rink reaches final of Delmanor senior bonspiel A Dundas Granite Curling Club team skipped by Brian MacLennan defeated Kan Sawchenko's Oakville rink in the championship game of last week's Delmanor Senior Men's Bonspiel at the Oakville Curling Club. MacLennan, Mike Howard, Keith Fenton and Ray Book downed Sawchenko, Jim Donoahue, Charlie McFeeters and Brock Hobbs 7-2 in the final. Sawchenko's rink finished the tournament with a 4-1 mark. In the first event consolation, the Oakville rink of Ron Grey, John Parks, Alan Morrison and Tom Leishman defeated Glenn Christie's Chinguacousy team 5-4. Grey's squad won four of five games at the tournament, which drew 120 curlers. Each team played five games at the annual event. Gold medals for Silver Stars girls The Oakville Hornets atom Silver Stars recently won their first tournament of the girls' hockey season, claiming the title at the North Halton Twisters Fall Classic. Oakville posted three victories (including two shutouts) and a tie to reach the final, where it edged the Burlington Warriors 2-1.
