Students make alternate plans By Dominik Kurek OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF As local public elementary schools closed today (Wednesday), as a result of the one-day teacher walk out, students and parents scurried to make alternate plans. During the strike, elementary schools are closed and before- and after-school programs are not operational in the school buildings. However, the approximately 40,000 local students who are affected, and their parents, were not without options. Full-day childcare centres operating on school board property remained open. There were a number of options for school-aged children as well. The Town of Oakville is offering PA Day-style camp programs at its recreation centres. Programs range for children aged six-13 years. The programs include art camps and the Frequent Flyers program.
