Registration was through www.oakville.ca. Oakville Museum at Erchless Estate isn't running any special programs, but it is open to visitors. There are also plenty of private programs available. Many local businesses cater to children's activities, special-event parties and offer summer, P.A. Day and March Break programming. Many of these businesses stepped up quickly to offer similar programs for students and parents in the event of a teacher strike. For example, Speckles Art Studio on North Service Road offered a day camp for children aged six and up. Safari Science on Speers Road hosted a Halton Teacher Strike Day Program. Space was limited at these places. Both offer school-hour programs as well as before- and after care. 4Cats Arts Studio organized two painting programs today. It offered a morning Claude Monet-inspired painting workshop and an afternoon snowman painting workshop. Halton-based Serenity Valley gave parents another option for their children today. The company will hold a fitness-based day camp. There will be at least two hours of fitness, such as Pilates, yoga, functional fitness and agility training as well as learning about nutrition.
