www.insideHALTON.com · OAKVILLE BEAVER Thursday, December 27, 2012 · 20 Your Halton Connection January 2013 www.halton.ca Building a Better Halton by Regional Chair Gary Carr Building a Better Halton means making sure our roads are well-maintained and safe. It means keeping our water supply and wastewater collection systems safe, reliable and ensuring that they meet all provincial standards. It also means planning and building the infrastructure needed for future growth in the region. Halton residents have told us that infrastructure planning and construction are key priorities for the Region and we're listening to you. In 2012 alone, we spent more than $216 million* on capital infrastructure projects. The approved 2013 capital budget for roads, water and wastewater is $921 million. Halton Region's long-term infrastructure plan will support the growth across the region to the year 2031, with a total investment of approximately $3 billion. Clear evidence of our commitment to improving our roads, water supply and wastewater collection service can be seen in neighbourhoods across the region. Whenever possible, we schedule our water, wastewater and road projects at the same time so the impact on you and your neighbours is reduced. Sometimes work has to be completed in phases to lessen traffic disruptions, avoid conflicts with other construction activities, or because some environmentally-sensitive work can only be completed at certain times of the year. Learn More Want to learn more about regional construction projects in your neighbourhood or along your commute route? It's easy.
