Whitecaps ball teams seeking coaches The Oakville Little League's allstar and select Whitecaps program is currently accepting applications for the position of manager/head coach for each of its 11 squads. The Whitecaps all-star and select program is in addition to the OLL house league, featuring five district/provincial teams and six select teams that range in age level from 7-18. District teams participate in regional playdowns to represent Oakville at the provincial and potentially national levels, and all Whitecaps clubs play between three to six tournaments throughout the summer as well as a number of exhibition games. Ideal candidates for the manager/head coach positions would be people who have coached baseball for several years, have a good understanding of how Little League rules impact the game and how to manage within the required parameters, have successfully completed PCA coaching clinics or the equivalent, and have demonstrated the ability to instruct youth with an emphasis on sportsmanship, skill development and team play. Managers/head coaches must also be effective communicators, well organized, disciplined, honest and air, with conflict resolution and multi-tasking abilities. In order to be a manager/head coach of an all-star or select team, candidates must also coach at the house league level as either a head coach or assistant. All managers are required to pass security clearances. The deadline to apply for the allstar and select positions is Jan. 31. Interviews will be conducted in early February, and all applicants will be notified of the interview results prior to the announcement date of April 1.
