www.insideHALTON.com · OAKVILLE BEAVER Wednesday, January 30, 2013 · 10 Thanks For Actively Supporting Our Hospital Each and every year, our hospital needs hundreds of pieces of new equipment that will improve the lives of all of us here in Oakville. Every piece is critical and every piece needs to be funded by our community. We are grateful for the following community fundraising events that have answered the call. Frank Sabatino Memorial Tournament The 2013 Frank Sabatino Memorial Hockey Tournament was another huge success with 48 teams participating in the Atom and Peewee divisions. This tournament has been supporting the Palliative Care Unit at the Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital since 2006 and has raised more than $18,000 to date. Thank you to the Tournament Committee Chair, Members, Volunteers and the MOHA for their commitment and hard work in planning and carrying out the tournament. We are very grateful for your continued commitment to the health of our community. Richard Bell Memorial Hockey Tournament In 2011, the Richard Bell Memorial Tournament began a five year partnership with the Oakville Hospital Foundation to raise funds for our hospital. Net proceeds from the tournaments benefit the equipment needs of Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital and the new Oakville Hospital. This year's tournament hosted 170 teams, two of which came from Finland. A big thank you to the Organizing Committee, referees, volunteers and host families for all their support in making this tournament one of the largest in Ontario. In only two years this tournament has raised more than $62,500 for our hospital. Kurl for Kids Join us at the Oakville Curling Club for the Kurl for Kids Pro-Am Charity Bonspiel on March 28-30, 2013 in support of the Special Care Nursery at the Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. Current and former Olympic, World, National and Provincial Champions will make the trip to help raise much needed funds for our paediatric patients. Over the past two years that Kurl for Kids has been in Oakville, more than $70,000 has been raised for OTMH. Visit www.kurlforkids.com and see which famous skips will be coming to Oakville this year. Curlers of all skill levels are welcome. Register today. Hockey and curling are great fundraising activities for our hospital. Now, plans are underway to bring a ski fundraiser to Oakville in Winter 2014. We are looking for people to join our volunteer committee to help organize this event. Please call us at 905.338.4642 if you are interested in being part of this exciting, new event. Interested in hosting your own fundraising event for Oakville Hospital?
