Attendance was relatively low as students are currently in their exam period. However, OOSS got representatives from across southern Ontario and from as far away as North Bay. Ahmed said the group of students heard about the series of events that led to the current labour dispute and were able to ask Coran about the union's rationale behind cutting extracurricular activities. However, our focus as students should not be to criticize the past decisions of either the government or the teachers' union, but to rather try to understand the conflict from all points of view, express our concerns of course, and to push for a proper resolution." During the discussion with Coran, a number of students shared anecdotes of how the loss of extracurricular activities has affected them negatively. OOSS was formed by a group of Abbey Park students in December 2012 with a focus to educate students about Bill 115 to promote the student voice. It is also working to assist in the creation of an expedient resolution to the conflict between the government and union. The group has functioning committees in 25 schools.
