FAMILY OF THE LATE HENRY BLESSENGER Mr. Blessenger came to live in Aldershot from Germany at the age of seven, in the year 1885. Mr. Blessenger had his name changed from the original spelling which was "Blossenger". He had a family of four, three boys and one girl, their names being Harry, Fred, Roy and Allie. Mr. Blessenger was one of the first tomato growers in the district and used to market his produce by team, a distance of about ?? miles. They had to start the day before in order to get there in time for market the next day. Mr. Blessenger left Aldershot to reside in Burlington in the year 1910. Mrs. Roy Blessenger met her husband while teaching school at what now is called the Black Horse Inn. The Blessenger's place was sold to Mr. Taylor, who in turn left it to his son Ernest. Then Mr. Clifford Lemon purchased it. Howard Sand and Gravel bought the land and took off the hill and tore down the house which makes another landmark gone from Aldershot, but the name of Blessenger will go on as there are five grand-daughters living, Allie, Evelyn, Elsie, Mary and Kathleen.
