The Bowen Family History Nelson Bowen came from England to Penna, U.S.A. with his wife Mary Marriot. Later they came to Canada and to Aldershot. They rented a home on La Salle [LaSalle] Park Rd. where Boyd's later lived, farming there for a few years, then purchasing on Plains Road East, about 63 years ago. Their children were: Marcia, Mary Jane, Eva May, Julia Maria, Kate Elizabeth, William Elijah, Harry Thomas, Clara Maude, John Marham. - Marcia married Wilfred Job and they had three children, Sam, Roy, Mary. - Mary Jane married Anson Vollick. Their children were Percy, Vera, Lottie, Murray, Leslie. - Eva May married W. Hampton. Their children were Herbert, Noel, Annie, Grace. - Julia married Jake Horne. They did not have a family. - Kate Elizabeth married J. Horne. They also did not have a family. - William Elijah married Annie Nicholson. Their children were Stanley and Maxwell. William had a second wife who was Alma Bond and their children were, Fabiola, Dorothy and Willian. -Henry Thomas married Ina Horne. Their children were Reginald, Howard, Marie and Gladys. - Clara Maude, married William Filman. They had no children. - John Markham married Gertrude Bowman. Their family were Claude and Shirley. John Markham continued to farm for several years. After his death his son Claude farmed for a few years and then the farm was sold to the Separate School Board and Holy Rosary School was built, the home being used as a rectory until about 1959 when it was torn down to build a new rectory. Mark as he was better known also served on East Flamboro Council and was an active member of the community helping to build the Aldershot Lawn Bowling Club.
