FELLOWES Mr. W.A. Fellowes was born in Upper Bnefield [Benfield?], England, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Fellowes. He served with the 12th Batt. [Battalion] Machine Gun Corp. during World War one and came to Canada in June 1921. He married Margaret (Peggy) Bennett in Georgetown, Ont. August 1925. Their children consist of: Helen, James, William (dec.), George and Mary. Helen - Mrs. Graneille [Granville?] Thomas, Hamilton James - Ancaster George - Waterdown Mary Swann - Burlington On October 15th 1929 a deed was closed for 15 acres of beautiful garden land between W. A. (Bill) Fellowes and Mr. George D. Filman. Two months later, December 1929, he and his wife and family moved into what is now 903 Shadeland Avenue, Aldershot in the Township of East Flamboro. Most of the produce of the Farm, fruit and vegetables were sold on the Hamilton Market. Bill Fellowes was always interested in Community affairs. So, from 1930 on he served the Community in a number of offices for the good of the area. In the early thirties he was peoples Warden for several years in the parish of St. Matthew's Anglican Church. Also in the 1930s he was a member of East Flamboro [Flamborough] township council. After that he served for several years on the Maplehurst Public School Board. Following that he was a member for several more years of the Waterdown District High School Board. The farm was sold in 1954 to J. Cooke Concrete Block Ltd. for a subdivision, but Bill having made many friends during the years could not leave Aldershot, so he retained the house and buildings,including a Greenhouse where he now finds some of his leisure time growing flowers etc. Bill is also an Active member of the Aldershot Lawn Bowling club. He looks after the Greens cutting grass, rolling etc., a most enjoyable pastime. At the present time he is entering his third year as President of the Aldershot Senior Citizens Club, an office from which he derives a great deal of pleasure, helping neighbors and friends who are now enjoying the golden years of their life. His wife and daughter, Mrs. Swann, are active members of Aldershot Presbyterian Church in W.A. [Women's Auxiliary] and the choir and other branches of services. Mrs. Fellowes is a former W.I.
