THOS. [Thomas] C. GREEN FAMILY Thomas C. Green and his family came to Aldershot in March, 1921. He purchased 10 acres of good farming land from Mr. Geo. [George] Filman and built a house on it. Mr. Green joined St. Matthew's Anglican Church and sang in the choir for many years. He started the Men's Club of the church and was its president for many years. T. C. Green was born at Chattisham, Suffolk, England. His wife Anna Bessie Read was born at Norwich, Norfolk, England, and their two daughters were born at Malton, Suffolk, England. Mr. Green came to Canada in 1909 and his family followed in 1910. In the early 1900's Mr. Green spent some time in the logging camps of Northern Ontario. Later he joined the police force serving in Hamilton prior to coming to Aldershot. Mr. Green spent many happy hours with the Aldershot Bowling Club and was one of the original or charter members, also held the offices of President and Secretary Treasurer. The Green daughters were Ellen Mary and Ivy Kathleen. Both sang in St. Matthew's choir and were married in the church. Ellen Mary married Gordon Gallagher on Dec. 8th, 1926. Ivy married Douglas Thornborrow on Oct. 9th, 1941. Ivy died in Aldershot, Oct. 18th, 1948. Mary has served St. Matthew's Church for many years, besides singing in the choir she was organist for some time and a member of the W. A. [Women's Auxiliary] since her marriage. Presently she is president of the W. A. and a Diocesan Life member. Mr. Green died in Jan. 1947. Mrs. Green died in March 1940.
