He was born in England, the son of the late George and Elizabeth Horne, and came to Canada with his father at the age of 12. A well-known market gardener, he retired in 1923. He and Mrs. Horne celebrated their sixty first wedding anniversary on January 14. Mr. Horne was a member of Burlington Lodge, 165 A.F. and A.M., a pioneer member of East Plains United Church, secretary of the church's trustee board for 42 years, and secretary-treasurer of the cemetery board. Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Edith Emory, one daughter, Miss Lola Horne at home; two sons W. Emory Horne, Aldershot, and H. Gordon Horne, St. Catharines; two sisters, Mrs. Harry Bowen, Aldershot, and Mrs. Andrew Wilson, Hamilton. He also leaves seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. The body is at Smith's Funeral Home, Burlington. The service will be held on Friday at 2 p.m., with burial at the Hamilton Mausoleum.
