JACOB PEART FAMILY Vickers Peart, of Guelph Line, Township of Nelson, County of Halton, purchased the farm of approximately 120 acres on Lot 13, Broken Front Concession, Brant's Block, Nelson Township, Halton County from his sister Tamar James, her husband William James and his brother J. James, on September 27, 1862. This property is now known as 1063 Plains Road East, in the Town of Burlington. On June 30, 1868 Vickers Peart sold this farm to his son Jacob Peart, who in 1863 had married Jane Easterbrook, daughter of Thomas Easterbrook of the Township of East Flamboro [Flamborough]. Their children were: Willie Elwin (1864); Eva Marie (1866); Moreley [Morley?] Clinton (1869), Elwood Chester (1870); and Annie Alwildie (1873). The farm was kept intact until the sons were grown, when acreage was sold to his sons Willie and Morley, and later to his grandson Ross (son of Willie.) Jacob died in 1920 and farm then came to Eva Peart and Annie Peart Smale. In 1921 on the death of Eva Peart, her share was to be held by Annie Smale for life then go to Annie's three children. In 1936 the Department of Highways expropriated 3 1/2 acres (all frontage) for the Queen Elizabeth Highway, to build the Clover Leaf. In 1937 the Ontario Hydro purchased all the land above the railway tracks - approximately 80 acres, which by that time was owned by Willie Peart and Estate of Eva Peart and Annie Smale. In 1957 the Queen Elizabeth Way was rerouted and the Department of Highway purchased a further 2.784 acres on the north-eastern side of the farm south of the railway tracks. Willie Peart married Fanny Lyons of Plains Road, Township of East Flamboro, and they had two children: Ross Elwin and Ada Lois. Ross married Bartol Scholfield of Brantford in 1922 and they had one son, Murray Elwood, who married Elizabeth Torrance of Burlington in 1955. Their children are: Robert Murray; David Ross; Walter Scott; John Torrance. Lois married Joseph Smith in 1915. They had one daughter, Doris Lois, who married Roy Roper in 1948. They have no children. Eva Marie Peart never married. She died in 1921. Morley Clinton Peart married Mary Buchanan Miller of St. Mary's. They had one son, Miller, who married Priscilla ??? . Their children were Richard, Mary (deceased) and Beverly. Miller married Jean Jackson in 1949 (?). Elwood Chester Peart married Alice Blessinger of Aldershot. Their children were Harry Elwood; Mildred Irene; Winnifred Mary and Florence Margaret. Harry married Jessie Rymal of Freeman in 1928. They had two daughters: Margaret and Helen. Margaret married John Macloed [MacLeod?] of Hamilton in 1953. They had two children, Ian and Katharine. Helen married Keith Bain of Hamilton also in 1953. They have no children. Mildred died at the age of about 15. Winnired [Winnifred?] and Florence never married. Annie Alwilde Peart married Hilton Whitlock Smale of Burlington in 1903. Their children were: Russell Chester; Mary Evangeline and Roy Martin. Russell married Marion ?? of Detroit, Michigan in April 1927, and in June 1929 married Vaneta Faye Bradley of Flora, Illinois. They have one son, Russell Brian, who married Irene Scott of Arden, Ontario in 1959. They have two daughters:
