Joseph A. Smiley, married Bridget Geerin of Waterdown and they had three children, Miss Mary, Hugh M. and Genevieve (St. [Sister] M. St. Hugh) of St. Joseph's Community, Hamilton. Joseph A., served on the East Flamboro [Flamborough] Township Council for some years, and was Reeve in 1911. When S.S. No. 2 (Fairfield) was formed, he served as Secretary Treasurer of the School Board for nine years. Miss Mary M. Smiley lives in the home built by her father on Plains Road West. Hugh M. Smiley, and his wife Mary M. Kelly, live in the homestead built by Robert Smiley, Sr., having moved the house from its original site on the sideroad, to its present location, 177 Plains Road West, and later remodelling it. Hugh M. Smiley and Mary M. Kelly were married in 1928 and were blessed with seven children, Margaret Ann, Joseph P., Robert H., Matthew S., Marilyn Frances (Mrs. Joseph Petrarca) Michael J., and Mary Claire (Mrs. David Grand;, all of whom live in the Burlington-Hamilton Area.
