[Provincial Crest] ONTARIO DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE EXTENSION BRANCH HOME ECONOMICS SERVICE May 11th, 1960. Dear Mrs. Bullock, It was quite a surprise when I received your letter and your proposed disbanding of the Aldershot branch. It seemed like such a nice group of interest ladies that afternoon at Mrs. Pink's and it is difficult to realize that you just can't go on. However, I know it is most difficult when you have an urban community. Everyone is so busy with organizations of all sorts that naturally they are going to go to the one where they get the most benefit and the least work, usually. By all means do appoint a committee to continue working on your Tweedsmuir Book, and definitely call it by that name even if you disband. Make it the Tweedsmuir History of the Aldershot Community (if that titles it correctly.) Always be sure that those appointed are old W.I. [Women's Institute] members, or at least the convenor is (or was). Your Brant Museum would definitely be the logical place for it, and when you have the first volume completed, then go ahead with another keeping your records up to date. Be sure to make arrangements for a glass case for the book in the museum so no one can remove or destroy any part thereof. No, we have a typewriter with a 15" carriage, but if yours will not take your sheets, it is quite permissable to fold them on the side with the post holes. We have a 3" fold on the Provincial Book sheets, and they hardly show. You will remember me mentioning a market gardener that afternoon at Aldershot, but I couldn't remember his name. Well, of course coming home I remembered quite well - Harold Newbold. It is so provoking when one forgets so easily - old age, I guess. Again wishing you ladies continued success with your Book, if not with your branch. I am truly sorry to see you disband. Please give my kindest regards to your members, Sincerely, [signature] Mrs. R.
