A pair of children's presentations is on Saturday, Feb. 9 at The Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts. Those who attend will get a chance to meet the symphony's concert master (first violin section leader), Joseph Peleg, who will play for the audience. Children will also get to meet young visual artist Jessica Gorlicky, who, through her paintings, will express the images that music evokes in her. The free mini-concerts are in the lobby of The Centre and are intended for children aged four to nine. The concerts start at 10 and 11 a.m. and each runs approximately 30 minutes. Space is limited. Artscene Workshop, concert with Ron Klusmeier Longtime musician Ron Klusmeier is ending his career with what he calls the Tour of a Lifetime. One of his stops along the tour is Oakville's Walton Memorial United Church, on Saturday, Feb. 9. Klusmeier will hold a church music workshop and a concert all in the same day. The musician has visited more than 2,000 churches in every province and 49 of the 50 U.S. states where he shared his compositions during a 40-year musical career. Klusmeier has partnered with the Canadian Foodgrains Bank and the United Church Observer for the tour. Twenty-five per cent of ticket sales will go to the Canadian Foodgrains Bank. Walton Memorial United Church is located at 2489 Lakeshore Rd. W. The choral workshop, running from 3:30-5:30 p.m., is free. Pre-registration is required. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. and features Klusmeier and choir. Tickets cost $20 for general admission or $5 for children and youths.
