"It's pretty exciting," said Susan Coyne, BBBSH resource development manager. "I'm a lifetime resident of Oakville and I can't think of many events that have be running as long as ours, so the fact that we've had such a successful event for 25 years, it's quite amazing." The RBC Curl for Kids Sake is put on to help fund BBBSH programming -- traditionally raising approximately $20,000-$25,000 annually, said Coyne. To date, the bonspiel has raised $500,000 for the organization. "This year, everything is sponsored so that means every pledge raised will go directly towards BBBSH programming and our 1,010 kids," she said. "We're just so grateful to our sponsors." Part of the success of the bonspiel is due to the support of the Oakville Curling Club, said Coyne. "They have never charged us (for renting out the club), which is huge See Bonspiel page 5 Downtown Oakville BIA gets help from Town By Nathan Howes SPECIAL TO THE BEAVER The Downtown Oakville Business Improvement Area (BIA) is in a state of transition and the Town of Oakville is lending it a helping hand until it gets on its feet.
