Our intent is to publish an Employment Survey Bulletin The success of this important survey depends upon the assistance and co-operation Laramee released on bail by David Lea Oakville Beaver Staff A former Oakville resident alleged to have defrauded investors of $11 million was released on bail Thursday following a hearing at the Milton Superior Court. Jason Robert Laramee, 39, of Mississauga was led into the courtroom in handcuffs, which were removed as the day progressed. Throughout the hearing Laramee, clad in blue jeans and a dark sweater, sat in the prisoners' box, his head turned downward towards the floor. At one point he appeared to be crying. Laramee's release came with a hefty bond and restrictions. Details cannot be provided due to a publication ban. Crown Attorney Arish Khoorshed and Defence lawyer Julianna Greenspan both agreed with the terms of the release, which were approved by Justice M. Curtis. Laramee is charged with three counts of fraud over $5,000, three counts of possession of the proceeds of crime, one count of perjury and one count of obstructing justice. Halton Regional Police laid the charges after a 12-month investigation into the companies RBL Capital Corporation and Brekland Realty Group, which it alleges were used to defraud more than 70 investors over about a five-year period. Laramee's next court appearance will take place in Milton July 2. Is your car seat secure? Police will check Halton police will hold a spot check car seat clinic, tomorrow (Saturday), at an as yet undisclosed location in Oakville. The event, held in partnership with the Halton Partners for Car Seat Safety, is intended to reach those who may not voluntarily attend a regular car seat clinic or who may not be aware their car seat or booster seat is not properly installed. Certified car seat technicians will be available to educate and assist drivers in fixing any identified error. Ontario Ministry of Transportation reports 90 per cent of child safety seats are not properly installed. Studies have shown that by using a safety seat properly, the chance of a child being killed or injured can be reduced by 75 per cent. Halton police have listed safety as their highest priority and said the best safety seat is the one that fits the child, fits the vehicle and that is used every time the youngster is in the car. There are resources in Halton to contact for assistance with car seat installation. Call 3-1-1 for information. Private companies should be qualified inspectors, having been trained by St. John Ambulance or the Infant and Toddler Safety Association. NOTICE OF PESTICIDE USE The Halton Region Health Department monitors standing water and catch basins in urban areas on public lands in the City of Burlington, the Town of Halton Hills, the Town of Milton, and the Town of Oakville for mosquito larvae. When mosquito larvae are found, the Health Department uses larvicide to control mosquito larvae in order to reduce the incidence of West Nile virus in Halton. Larvicide will be applied by a licensed applicator contracted by the Region. Larviciding in Standing Water Larviciding of standing water may occur anytime from May 16 to October 31, 2013 once monitoring indicates that mosquito larvae are present. The Halton Region Health Department will apply larvicide to standing water sites under the direction in affected standing water on public lands in urban areas in the City of Burlington, the Town of Halton Hills, the Town of Milton, and the Town of Oakville. Signs will be posted at each location indicating when the larvicide is applied. Larviciding in Catch Basins Larviciding of catch basins may begin anytime from June 1 to October 31, 2013 once monitoring indicates that mosquito larvae are present. The Halton Region Health Department will apply larvicide to catch basins under the direction of the Medical areas on public lands in the City of Burlington, the Town of Halton Hills, the Town of Milton, and the Town of Oakville.
