Police said a video posted online received more than 100,000 views in multiple jurisdictions and was instrumental in generating leads that led to the arrests. Since Oct. 24, 2010 thieves, thought to be working together, have been linked to 60 break-ins to ATM machines in Québec and more than 70 break-ins in Ontario. Last November, police said, a dozen such incidents in Oakville and Burlington resulted in more than $100,000 in losses. Police said a variety of methods, including prying, drilling and the use of a blowtorch, was used to open the machines and remove the cash. The provincial action comes after Oakville became the rst municipality in Ontario to ban tanning for teens, in a Rob Burton unanimous vote from council in August, on the grounds that young people are more at risk of developing skin cancer through the use of tanning beds.
