www.insideHALTON.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Wednesday, March 20, 2013 | 8 Men face mischief charges Forum for ideas on sustainable transportation Four Oakville teens are facing charges in connection with a Christmas Eve vandalism spree that left several local schools damaged. Last Dec. 24, Halton police were contacted after graffiti and vandalism was discovered at West Oak Public School, Mother Theresa Catholic Elementary School and St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Secondary School. There was graffiti on walls, doors and walkways, broken signs and smashed windows. The total damage cost exceeded $5,000. A lengthy investigation aided by residents resulted in the arrest of four Oakville youths. Christian Petrenyi, 19, and Curtis Preksta, 19, both face charges of mischief over $5,000. Adam Pattee, 19, and Blake Reith, 18, face charges of mischief under $5,000. The accused will appear in Milton Court on April 16. The Oakville Sustainable Transportation Coalition (OSTC) wants to know what would make walking, biking and public transit easier and more fun in Oakville. The group will host a workshop on Saturday (March 23), from 9 a.m.-noon at Oakville Town Hall to get some answers to this question. The group is trying to identify short, medium, and long-term solutions to support sustainable transportation and build on community assets. They said Oakville is moving in the right direction, with accomplishments such as the Oakville Active Transportation Master Plan, free transit for seniors on Mondays and volunteer organizations with a passion for sustainable transportation. "We are asking participants at the workshop to share their top five ideas on what we could do as a coalition to advance in sustainable transportation efforts in Oakville," said Ward 2 Town Councillor Pam Damoff, who is a co-organizer of Oakville Cycles. The OSTC includes members from Go Local Oakville, Green Trans, Oakville Cycling Club, Oakville Cycles and many others from local environmental and cycling groups, businesses, government and individuals. Town Hall is at 1225 Trafalgar Rd. www.oakville.ca 12 TH A N N U A L Nominate a Community Champion Today!
