Represent Oakville's cultural diversity in its membership, programs and service projects. 4. Be receptive to the needs of the local community, responding primarily to those groups who are most disadvantaged and who lack structure or a voice for fundraising. 5. Support initiatives where RCOW contribution will make a difference in the project outcome and to improving quality of life. FUNDING YOUTH, COMMUNITY SERVICES & INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS Oakville Awards for Business Excellence is an annual event to acknowledge and recognize remarkable entrepreneurs and businesses within the Oakville community. Proceeds support RCOW youth initiatives. Rotary Education Awards recognizes and rewards academic accomplishments and community service of deserving Grade 12 students attending publicly-supported secondary schools in Oakville. Bursaries and scholarship are for their post-secondary education. Camp Enterprise ­ An annual four-day Retreat for area secondary school students interested in learning about business and private enterprise. Interact Club ­ Students attending Iroquois Ridge Secondary School develop and participate in activities with local and international impact. Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) ­ One talented college/university student per year is sponsored to attend this six-day intensive training program for future community leaders. Rotaract Club of Oakville ­ Offers young people 18-30 years the opportunity to make a difference in the world through local and international service. RCOW Annual Charity Golf Tournament benefits Oakville agencies such as Kerr Street Ministries, Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital and the Salvation Army. Water for Humanity ­ RCOW led water projects have raised more than $1 million in funding ensuring safe drinking water for 150,000 people living in 23 impoverished communities on 3 different continents.
