The town lost out to neighbouring Burlington for the top spot in the magazine's ranking for the Top 10 Mid-Sized Cities category. Oakville was also listed as fth overall. The report ranks cities for offering the best overall quality of life based on data such as income and employment, housing costs, weather, crime rates, and access to medical treatment and hospitals. The report also looked at the ability of residents' to take part in cultural activities, whether cities have movie theatres and ease of access to an airport. The top large city was Calgary, Alberta and the top small city was St. Albert, Alta. Oakville improved signi cantly since last year's report, when it was listed as the top 17th city overall, compared to this year's fth place. Though Burlington was named the top MidSized City this year, it fell a position overall, placing third compared to last year's second spot.
