Show will raise voices to create better understanding of autism continued from p.1 employees who work at Enza Day Spa in Oakville. The group has been organizing fundraisers for Autism Ontario for several years. "I started because I have a little boy who is autistic. That is the main reason why we started it, but it just keeps growing and growing," said Elaine, who owns the spa, and is a member of Autism Ontario. Last year, the group held a fashion show. This year's effort will feature such things as Bollywood and African dancing, singers, a musician and more. Art pieces made by local artists with autism will also be on display. Some of the art has been donated for a raffle to raise money for Autism Ontario Halton. "All of our performers are celebrating. They all believe in awareness. We're doing it for our kids so they will have a huge party," Elaine said. Elaine said the fundraiser will be supporting local programs run by volunteers, programs which she has accessed herself. She said the programs make a difference in the lives of those who use them. Elaine said more and more people are being identified on the autism spectrum and the numbers are increasing. 3 | Thursday, April 4, 2013 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com Let's raise awareness.
