OCF report a platform for action among community leaders continued from p.11 support a broad range of community needs. We connect donors to innovative, future oriented opportunities and solutions to ensure sustainable communities. One way we do this is in presenting a unique community report called Vital Signs -- the report has become the platform for local action among a wide range of community leaders, including governments, not-for-profits, philanthropists, the private sector, and individual citizens. In our 2011 report, we presented perspectives of numerous community leaders on three related issues, germane to a vibrant and strong Oakville: poverty, charitable giving and voluntarism, and mental health. These three issue areas affect all in our community. No one is exempt. Engaging with all residents in our community, means embracing what is new, addressing challenges that affect all of us, and supporting each other as we grow. I'm looking forward to how this town will continue to grow, how many of us who live, work and play in Oakville can and do talk about the issues and the solutions. We have the means to remain one of the most coveted communities in Canada. It is time to engage for our community. The Oakville Community Foundation is a proud member of one of the fastest growing philanthropic movements in Canada -- more than 180 throughout Canada and more than 800 in North America. As a community foundation, we support families in establishing endowment funds that generate income year after year to support a broad range of community needs. Please feel free to contact us about ways you too can help your community flourish. We'd love for you to join the more than 900 OCF Twitter followers -- who are connecting and building a vital, virtual community. You can follow us @OakvilleCF or connect with us on Facebook. -- Submitted by Rusty Baillie, CEO, Oakville Community Foundation. 13 | Friday, April 5, 2013 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com NOW OPEN!
