What would others have done differently, the mayor asks? A good question, likely not the only question that still needs to be addressed. Firstly, best not even to consider locating a power plant closer to a residential area than the province's regulations for a wind turbine allow. Secondly, as many believe happened, best not to assure Ford that `if an environmentally state-of-the-art power plant is proposed', the votes would be there. Thirdly, until the people of Oakville rose up in opposition many believe there was support within the provincial and municipal leadership of Oakville for the power plant. That `support' triggered huge and seemingly growing financial costs: in addition to lost opportunity and human costs. The best way not to create a problem that needs an expensive fix is just to say "No" at the first opportunity. Ann Mulvale, Oakville Sore Feet, Sports Injury, Painful Ingrown Toenails? Plantar Warts?
