Old oak tree's benefactor is remembered by David Lea Oakville Beaver Staff Waterfront Festival returning in August by David Lea Oakville Beaver Staff The woman who anonymously donated $150,000 to help save Oakville's 250-year-old Bronte Road white oak tree has been unmasked, but sadly residents will not have the opportunity to thank her in person. Meagan McLellan, 66, president of the Toronto-based cosmetics company Cellex-C International Inc., was named as the donor during Monday night's council meeting. McLellan, who primarily lived in Toronto, but also maintained residences in Oakville, died Thursday, Feb. 28 following a two-year battle with cancer. "Oakville has lost a great citizen," said Oakville Mayor Rob Burton in an address at council. "She made the game-changing donation of $150,000 to save the great oak tree on Bronte Road.
