It will showcase demonstrations from the five Dog Guide programs, tours of the school, foster puppies, silent auction, and information on the upcoming Purina Walk for Dog Guides. "Our open house is a great way to learn about how our foster puppies transform into life changing companions," said Sandy Turney, executive director, Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides. "It is also a unique opportunity to see Dog Guides from each program demonstrate the skills they need to know to help their handler." To date, Lions Foundation has placed more than 1,900 Dog Guides with people across the country; each of them visiting the Oakville school to learn how to work with their new companion. Every Dog Guide has been provided at no cost, despite costing $20,000 to raise, train and place. The silent auction supports that effort. The Lions Foundation of Canada trains five types of Dog Guides -- Canine Vision; Hearing Ear; Special Skills; Seizure Response; and Autism Assistance Dog Guides. HOST FAMILIES NEEDED!
