Burl-Oak Theatre Group has found a recipe for some laughs and entertainment with its presentation of Caroline Smith's The Kitchen Witches. The play opens today (Thursday) at The Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts. The Kitchen Witches is about two duelling divas, Isobel Lomax (played by Teresa Wilson) and Dolly Biddle (played by Dina Dametto). Both are hosts of their own television cooking shows and have hated each other ever since Larry Biddle dated one, then married the other. Thinking it would make for great viewing, the TV station manager pairs the two women on a new show called The Kitchen Witches. Soon after, the insults and food begin to y. Dolly's son, Steven (Paul Pairing two Kitchen Witches is a recipe for disaster and laughter Damario), who is the show producer is, tasked with trying to keep peace, while cameraperson Rob (Brenna McKim) captures it all on lm. It's not a surprise to anyone that the show is a ratings smash hit. The Kitchen Witches is a play about relationships between women. It features mother/daughter relationships, of best friends and worst enemies, as well as the split between public and private lives. Byron McKim is directing. The play runs April 24-27 and May 1-4 with shows at 8 p.m. and a Sunday, May 28 matinee at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $28, or $20 for the Sunday matinee or Wednesday evening shows.
