Aldershot, Feb. 20th - Cubs and Scouts of the 2nd Aldershot Troop will be provided with black bands to be worn on the sleeves of their tunics, for the duration of the mourning period for the late King, it was decided at a meeting of the 2nd Auxiliary at the home of Mrs. Percy Gallagher last night. Plans were completed for the father and son banquet, Friday, February 29th, in Rosary Hall at 6.45 p.m. Fathers who are unable to attend are urged to secure a "substitute father" for their sons for the evening. Tentative plans have been made for a spring tea and home baking sale to be held in Rosary Hall early in May. It was announced that the leaders of the 2nd Aldershot Scout Troop will attend the annual Scout banquet February 26th at the Scottish Rite. Tickets are available at Scout Headquarters and anyone interested in Scouting is cordially invited to attend. Hostess for the evening, Mrs.Percy Gallagher, was assisted by Mrs. S. Foster ahd Mrs. R. Lymburner. The next meeting will be a St. Patrick's Day party, March 17 at the home of Mrs. C. J. McKee, Shadeland Avenue. Aldershot Cubs, Scouts to hold Poster Contest March 18th, 1952. A St. Patrick's Day party was held by the 2nd Aldershot Scout Ladies' Auxiliary last night at the home of Mrs. C. J. McKee. A short business meeting was held with Mrs. W. G. Gayfer presiding. Plans were completed for a spring tea and bake sale in Rosary Hall, May 3. The following were named conveners: Mrs. W. A. Whelan, Mrs. S. Allen, Mrs. W. Williams, Mrs. R. Pinhay, Mrs. William Benner, Mrs. Earl Perkins and Mrs. G. W. Spinks. A poster contest will be held for the Cubs and Scouts of the 2nd Aldershot Troop. Posters will be to advertise the spring tea and entries must be in by April 15. Further details may be obtained by phoning Cubmaster Lucy Gallagher. There will be four prizes for Cubs and two for Scouts. Scout Commissioner R. Todd and Scout Leader W. Lapp were present. Mr. Todd made an announcement regarding the boating activities of the Scout Troop. A canoe, a skiff, a row boat and a sailing dinghy were purchased last year for the Scouts and an appeal is being made for boating enthusiast fathers to help put the boats in shape for use this summer. Any father who enjoys wood-working, scraping or painting or could assist in instructing the boys in the art of sailing, is invited to get in touch with Mr. Todd.
