Among these have been: The Yearly Cookie Sale. This has grown from 300 boxes of cookies sold, to around 1100. Annual Birthday Parties and Mother and Daughter Banquets, parents and friends of Guiding are invited together with all Guides and Brownies in the district, to the annual Birthday Party. This is held in February, as close to February 22nd, the birthday of Lord Baden Powell, the founder of the Movement, as possible. The Mother and Daughter Banquet is the first social event of the fall each year. Two very successfull hobby fairs were sponsored and several rallies. Photo of Commissioner, Helene Deadman Union Jacks were presented to both Companies in 1944 and in 1946 they received Girl Guide World Flags. Church Parades are a yearly event, Guides and Brownies joining with the Scouts and Cubs. The Local Ass'n has also helped many girls to obtain uniforms and help with Camp Expenses. We feel that Guiding has been held to a high standing in Aldershot which has been born out by several of the Guides who have received Honours of the Movement. Miss Helen Eydt received the Blue and White All Round Cord in 1944, Three others received the same award in 1946. They were Marion Stevenson, Helen McMillan, and Jean Bullock all of the 2nd Aldershot Company. In 1948 Marion Stevenson won the highest award, that of the Gold Cord with Helen McMillan winning hers the next year. In 1947 Marion Stevenson of 2nd Aldershot Guide Company won a place on the group of Guides representing Ontario at the Deer-Trails Camp in the U.S.A. In 1952 Mary Elizabeth Whelan and Shirley Hopkins won the right to represent Aldershot at the National Camp in Ottawa. Photos of Mildred Todd - Elsie Bullock - Jean McMillan
