ALDERSHOT GIRL GUIDES Feb. 5th, 1944 - Mrs. William Crouchley entertained the local association of Girl Guides at the annual meeting at her home on Thursday evening. The President, Mrs. Conrad Scotchburn, was in the chair and the following officers were elected: President, Mrs. Robert Todd; vice-presidents, Mrs. Albert Unsworth and Mrs. Stanley Nash; secretary, Mrs. Richard Bullock; Mrs. W. Crouchley, treasurer; badge committee, Mrs. Charles Thomas, Mrs. Harry Hansen; camp convener, Mrs. S. Nash; refreshment, Mrs. R. Bullock, Mrs. W. Crouchley, Mrs. Scotchburn and Mrs. Frank Lemon; uniform committee, Mrs. R. Bullock, Mrs. R. Todd and Mrs. F. Lemon. It was announced there would be a company officers' training course in Hamilton February 18 to 23, in charge of Mrs. Wayne Connor, provincial field secretary. Reports were given by Helen Gallagher, Mrs. E. Davis, Winnifred Kellar, Joyce Scheer, Mrs. Gilbert Stevens, Mrs. William Crouchley and Mrs. S. Nash. Plans were discussed for celebrating the fifth birthday of the guide company, which falls on February 22nd. A presentation of handkerchiefs, hand embroidered by Mrs. John Eydt with the Girl Guide trefoil was made to Mrs. J. Lillycrop, who has been a tireless worker since the company was formed in 1939. Feb. 19th, 1944 - Girl Guides D.C. Chief Speaker A joint meeting of the 2nd Girl Guide company under the leadership of Lt. Thora Jackson and the brownie pack under the leadership of Joyce Scheer and Verna Green was held on Thursday evening at Maplehurst school. The district commissioner, Mrs. W. J. Deadman, addressed the meeting. Vera Baker read letters of thanks from members of a guide company from Bolton, Lane, England, to which the local companies had sent Christmas parcels. Grace Wallington, of Burlington company, was in charge of the tenderfoot tests passed by Marion Job and Jean Poelman.
